Visitation: Noon to 8:00 PM, Friday, June 25, 2010 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas with Chaplain Gerry Dupuis officiating.
Interment: Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.


Sue Unger departed this life on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 surrounded by family at her home to spend eternity with her beloved husband, James Randall Unger. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister - Tedy Bates.


She was born September 8, 1923 to June and Everett Rowe at Dallas, Texas. She grew up in Wichita, Kansas on September 6, 1942 she married Jim at Wichita. Jim passed away on November 10, 1988.


She is survived by her three children and their families. Son Randy Unger and wife, Vicki, grandson Jay Unger and wife Katie and great-grandson Ryan: grandson Jeff Unger and wife Cindy and great -grandsons Ethan and Evan, all of Garden City. Daughter Karensue Gottschalk, granddaughter Nikki Gottschalk and great-granddaughter Zaria of Garden City; grandson Andy Gottschalk and wife Chris and great-grandsons Tylor and Seamus Galloway and great-granddaughter Kaite Gottschalk of Centralia; granddaughter Natalie Bruno and great-grandson Dylan of Centralia. Daughter Patti Bealmer and husband John of Las Cruces, New Mexico; grandson Shane Bealmear of South Fork, Colorado; granddaughter Heather Taylor and great-grandsons Gunner and Easton of Manhattan.


She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She was a willing volunteer worker within the community. Sue, in her leisure time was an avid duplicate bridge player. She was also an accomplished golfer and won many tournaments at Garden City Country Club and around the area. She also loved fishing and boating with her kids and grandkids and husband Jim, and many times caught the "Bigger" fish. She is going to be missed by all who knew and loved her.


The family requests memorials be given to St. Catherine Hospice in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. 7th St., Garden City, KS 67846.
