Visitation: 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM, Thursday, March 01, 2012 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses, Kansas.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, March 02, 2012 at Grant Mennonite Church of rural Ulysses, Kansas with Minister Denton Koehn and Minister Stuart Jantzen officiating.
Interment: Grant Mennonite Cemetery of rural Ulysses, Kansas.

Evelyn Isaac, age 93, of Ulysses, Kansas died Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Bethel Home in Montezuma, Kansas. She was born June 21, 1918 in Goltry, Oklahoma, the daughter of Dan and Nettie (Koehn) Smith.


Evelyn’s father died when she was six months old. Her mother married Alfred Smith when she was six years old. Evelyn received her education in the Greensburg, Kansas school system. She made good grades and enjoyed school. Evelyn married Edward Isaac on March 4, 1945 in Greensburg. She worked for a year in the Cleveland State Hospital as a nurse aide and enjoyed taking care of the patients. After that time, she was a housewife and mother. Evelyn loved to sing and she also did some traveling. She was a member of the Grant Mennonite Church of Ulysses.


She is survived by three daughters, Mary Beth Koehn and husband Dale of Vanceboro, North Carolina, Ruth Ann Koehn and husband Rodney, Saundra Nightingale and husband Weldon all of Ulysses, Kansas; two sons, Harold Isaac and wife Lavauna of Ulysses, Kansas, and Mark Isaac of Dodge City, Kansas; sisters, Edna Smith, and Vivian Koehn both of Emelle, Alabama; brother, Duane Smith and wife Geneva of Liberal, Kansas; 19 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren.


She is preceded in death by her parents; step-father; and husband, Edward on October 17, 2009.
