Visitation: 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Friday, April 27, 2012 at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin, Kansas.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 28, 2012 at United Methodist Church in Deerfield with Reverend Phillip Morris officiating.
Interment: Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, Kansas.

Dale Calvin Unruh, age 82, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Deerfield. He was born November 28, 1929 in Clark County, Kansas the son of Alfred Lee & Esther Marie (Inman) Unruh.


Dale attended early school in a one room school in Northern Finney County and graduated from Holcomb High School in 1947. He attended Garden City Junior College for one year and was on the track team. He became the manager of the Wolf Elevator for Garden City Co-op at the age of 19 and was at the elevator for 33 years. He then was on the construction crew of Sunflower Electric Power Corp. He later became a farmer-rancher and also was involved in real estate investments. He loved being involved with his family activities and also enjoyed playing tennis, roller skating, town team basketball and playing dominos. He was a member of United Methodist Church of Deerfield and Deerfield Lions Club. Dale married Bobbie Jean Hayhurst on June 10, 1956 at Edmond, Oklahoma.


Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Jean Unruh of their home; four sons, George Michael Unruh of Morrow, Ohio, Timothy Dale Unruh of Salina, Kansas, David Alan Unruh of Houston, Texas, Dan Phillip Unruh of Wichita, Kansas; daughter, Diana Sue Unruh of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Edward Lee Unruh of Garden City, Kansas, Maurice Eugene Unruh of Deerfield, Kansas, Allen Thomas Unruh of Deerfield, Kansas; sister, Ruby May Ryan of Garden City, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Chris Hazelton, Stephanie Hazelton, Brock Alan Unruh, Lindsay Lea Unruh, Kendra Amber Unruh, Bridget Nicole Unruh, Mason Montgomery Unruh, and Samuel Scott Unruh.
