John grew up in Garden City and graduated from Garden City High School in 1954 ands then attended Garden City Community College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1958, in the Corp Of Engineers stationed in Greenland. After his discharge he returned to Garden City and worked at Kansas Plastic Co, Reed-Stinemetz & Popejoy Asphalt Company. He then became self-employed in owning a Pet Store and CB Radio Shop. He enjoyed woodworking, leatherwork, reading, painting, studying history & telling bad jokes. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 Brother- Donald Yount & 1 Sister- Lorena Smith.
