Obituary for Betty L. Hampton

Betty L. Hampton, age 77, of Guymon, Oklahoma died Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Baptist St. Anthony Hospice in Amarillo, Texas. She was born July 21, 1937 in Haskell, Oklahoma the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Hynes) Caster.

Betty grew up in Ulysses, Kansas and attended Red Rock School and Grant County Rural High School. She married Ralph Hampton on January 10, 1955 in Lovington, New Mexico. Betty worked at the Grant County Court House, and also did ironing and babysitting. Ralph and Betty moved to Guymon, Oklahoma in 1964 where she was a bookkeeper for the Guymon Sale Barn and Gary Cobb Cattle Co.

Survivors include her husband Ralph of Guymon, Oklahoma; one son, Mike Hampton and wife Sharon of Beaver, Oklahoma; two daughters, Sue Ellard and husband Jeff of Stuttgart, Arkansas, and Becky Robinson and husband Tracy of Tyrone, Oklahoma; one brother; and seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles; and eleven half-brothers and sisters.

Graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Kelly Gindlesberger officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to BSA Hospice or The Herrington Cancer Center both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
