Obituary for Matilda "Tillie" Wheeler

Matilda “Tillie” Wheeler, 94 died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at The Shepherd’s Center in Cimarron, Kansas. She was born August 4, 1920 in Garber, Oklahoma the daughter of George & Elizabeth (Nichols) Lohfink.
Tillie lived most of her life in Kansas, Colorado, and Oklahoma. A homemaker, Tillie also worked in various other jobs throughout her life. She loved the outdoors where she enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening. She also loved square dancing, and sewing.
On May 28, 1937, she married Harold Robert Hoffman in Guymon, Oklahoma. Tillie later married Ernest L. Wheeler on January 29, 1964 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Survivors include three sons Walter Hoffman of Garden City, KS, Clyde Hoffman of Holcomb, KS, and Eugene Hoffman of Wichita, KS; two daughters Patricia Wallace of Garden City, KS and Joyce St. John of Kinsley, KS; two brothers LeRoy Lohfink of Satanta, KS and John Lohfink of Wild Wood, IL; a sister Flossie Wood of Pratt, KS; four step-sons Rex Wheeler, Donny Wheeler, Gary Wheeler, & Leo Wheeler; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Tillie is preceded in death by her first husband Harold; her second husband Ernest; a daughter Georgia Hoffman; a granddaughter; two grandsons; a great grandson; and a great granddaughter.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Rev. David Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and from Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family requests memorials given to the American Cancer Society in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
