Obituary for Roger L. Almos

Roger L. Almos, 60 died Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was born June 23, 1954 in Watertown, South Dakota the son of Melvin J. & Grace G. (Nieland) Almos.
Roger moved with his family to Wichita, Kansas when he was a child. They later moved to Garden City in 1967. Roger attended Garden City schools and graduated from Garden City High School in 1972. He then attended Garden City Community College. Roger began working at the Garden City Co-op. He later moved to Abilene, Kansas where he worked at Corn Belt. He then moved to Hillsboro, Kansas in 2000 where he became warehouse manager for United Suppliers. Roger enjoyed golfing, fishing, sports especially baseball, his dogs, family gatherings, and his TUFKL fantasy football buddies.
Survivors include a daughter Angie & husband Jimmy Dunsworth of Garden City; three brothers Robert & wife Sandy Almos of Garden City, Randall & wife Joanne Almos of Topeka, Kansas, and Ronald & wife Ranae Almos of Lenexa, Kansas; a sister Renee & husband David Loya of Lenexa, Kansas; a granddaughter Tia Dunsworth of Garden City; four nephews Sam Almos, Paul Almos, Colton Almos, & Michael Loya; seven nieces Amber Almos, Heidi Markel, Baylee Almos, Corinne Almos, Reagan Almos, Grace Loya, & Randee Loya; two great nephews; and three great nieces. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter Miranda Dunsworth.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the First Christian Church in Garden City with Rev. Scott Schurle officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date. The family requests memorials given to the Finney County Humane Society or the Marion County Humane Society both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City. There will be no calling hours.
