Obituary for Jackson J. Norton

Jackson J. Norton, 90 died Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. He was born September 26, 1924 in Garden City the son of Eardie K. & Anna R. (Goertz) Norton.
Jackson grew up on the farm in rural Finney County, Kansas. He attended Holcomb schools and graduated from Holcomb High School. On March 14, 1946 he married Marjorie Lou Deck in Deerfield, Kansas. They moved to Garden City where they have lived since. Jackson worked as a carpenter for several years before going to work for the Coca Cola Company where he worked as a vending machine technician. Jackson enjoyed shooting pool, playing dominoes, gardening and lounging in his lawn chair.
Survivors include a son Jerry Norton of Garden City; three brothers Eardie Norton, Jr. of Garden City, Kansas, Sanford Norton of Texas, and Billy Norton of Colorado; two sisters Betty Frye of Texas and Nina Cross of Kansas; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Jackson is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie; his parents; three sons Gerald Norton, Jimmy Norton, & Steven Norton; two daughters Ann Burnett and Barbra Hahn; two brothers John Norton and Jake Norton; and a sister Dena Fross.
A private family graveside will be taking place at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family requests memorials given to the Finney County EMS in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
