Obituary for Sadie M Kleysteuber

Sadie M. Kleysteuber, 96 of Garden City died Monday, February 2, 2015 at her home in Garden City. She was born March 6, 1918 in Great Bend, Kansas the daughter of Albert S. & Edna (Coffee) Ardery.
Sadie moved with her family to Northern Haskell County, Kansas when she was a child. She graduated from Copeland High School in 1937. Sadie then earned her teacher’s certificate from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. She returned to Northern Haskell County where she taught school for a few years at the Colusa School. On October 4, 1941, Sadie married Harold R. Kleysteuber in Copeland, Kansas. They lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for a short time before moving to Garden City. In 1947 they moved to the family farm in Southeast Finney County. They returned to Garden City 1981 and have lived in Garden City since.
A homemaker, Sadie was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Builder’s Sunday School Class. She served on the election board for many years, served as treasurer of the Community House, served as a 4-H Leader, and was a substitute teacher. She enjoyed traveling, oil painting, quilting, playing bridge, playing the piano and organ at church, and she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include a son Dennis & wife Jan Kleysteuber of Garden City; a daughter Delores & husband Dale Gillen of Garden City; a sister Eldora & husband Leo Kleysteuber of Garden City;
7 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. Sadie is preceded in death by her husband Harold who died on January 10, 2004. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Russell Ardery and Raymond Ardery; and a sister Alberta Dover.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City with Rev. Brian Faust and Rev. David Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family requests memorials given to the Harold Kleysteuber Memorial Scholarship Fund at Garden City Community College in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
