Obituary for Norman George Carr Sr.

Norman George Carr, Sr., 87 died Thursday, March 19, 2015 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born November 7, 1927 in Falls City, Nebraska the son of Clifford William & Hazel (Stewart) Carr.
Norman has been a longtime resident of Garden City and Southwest Kansas. He worked as Manager of Ankrom Auto Salvage for many years. He later worked at Western Motor Co., Smith Auto Parts, and the Garden City Family YMCA. Norman was a member of Bible Christian Church of Garden City and he enjoyed auto racing, roller skating, the Oakland Raiders, working on cars, and attending his grandchildren’s activities.
On December 13, 1947, Norman married Edith Leora Stinemetz in Garden City. She survives. Other survivors include 4 sons George & wife Juanita Carr of Garden City, Randy Carr of Garden City, David Bruce & wife Nancy Carr of Garden City, and Monte & wife Kris Carr of Lakin, Ks.; a brother Robert Carr of Ulysses, Ks.; 11 grandchildren Marti Rash, Norman Carr III, David Joe Carr, Dustin Carr, Bridget McQueen, Thomas Irwin, Robert Irwin, Kimberly Webb, Holli Ayala, Dylan Carr, and Janettah Baquera; 26 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. Norman is preceded in death by his parents; his step-father Roy Ankrom; a brother C.W. Carr; and a grandson Phillip Rash.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Bible Christian Church in Garden City with Pastor Bob Bates and Pastor Scott Rosen officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family requests memorials given to Bible Christian Church or the Garden City Family YMCA both in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
