Obituary for Terry Gillespie

Terry Gillespie, age 62, of Ulysses, Kansas died Thursday, June 25, 2015 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born March 26, 1953 in Quinter, Kansas, the son of William D. and Beulah (Maddox) Gillespie.

Terry was born and raised in Grainfield, Kansas. He attended church and was baptized in the United Methodist Church in Grainfield. Terry graduated from Wheatland High School and continued his education at Goodland Vo-Tech School where he obtained a degree in Communications Technology. After graduation, Terry moved to Ulysses and worked for Pioneer Communications for over 41 years, retiring in March 2015.

He is survived by his mother, Beulah Gillespie of Grainfield, Kansas; brothers, Kim Gillespie and wife Gloria of Roscoe, Texas, Mark Gillespie and wife Brenda of Sevierville, Tennessee; four nephews, Kevin Gillespie and wife Melissa, Corey Gillespie, Matthew Stranghoner and wife Angie, and Jimmy Griffin; one great-nephew, Parker Gillespie, and three step-great-nieces and one step-great-nephew.

Terry is preceded in death by his father, William; brothers, Lyle Gillespie, Kyle Gillespie, Gail Gillespie; and sister, Diane Gillespie.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Garnand Funeral Chapel in Ulysses, Kansas. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 29, 2015 at United Methodist Church in Grainfield with Pastor Norma McNair officiating. Interment will follow at the Grainfield Cemetery in Grainfield, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to Grainfield Opera House in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
