Obituary for Mary Jane Baier
Mary Jane Baier, 71, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born March 7, 1944 in Garden City the daughter of Philip David & Mary (Burgardt) Baier.
Mary Jane attended Holcomb schools and graduated from Holcomb High School. She then attended and graduated from the School of Cosmetology in Liberal. Mary Jane returned to Garden City. She worked for many years as a Beautician at Unique Beauty Salon. She then worked for the next 23 years for St. Catherine Hospital in Central Stores. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City and a lifetime member of the Eagle’s Lodge. She loved her dogs and cats, attending auctions and garage sales, and family gatherings.
Survivors include two brothers James Baier of Garden City, Ks. And John & wife Pat Baier of Louisa, Virginia; two sisters Helen Smith of Garden City, Ks. And Virginia & husband Dennis Green of Garden City, Ks.; her long time friend and companion Bob Hill of Dodge City, Ks.; and many nieces and nephews. Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Edward Baier, David Baier, and Andrew Baier; and a sister Cathy Baier.
A private family service will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family requests memorials given to the Finney County Humane Society or to Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo both in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
