Obituary for Estella M. DeLeon

Estella M. DeLeon, 77 died Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born August 10, 1938 in Burnett, Texas the daughter of Clemente & Maria (Basquez) Montemayor.
Estella grew up in Lubbock, Texas where she attended school. She moved to Garden City in 1964 and has lived in Garden City since. A homemaker, Estella enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with her family, raising farm animals and taking care of her flowers and trees.
In 1963, Estella married Ruben M. DeLeon in Garden City. He survives. Other survivors include five children Rosemary & husband Johnny Jimenez of Lubbock, Texas, Ruby DeLeon of Garden City, Kansas, Frank & wife Sherri DeLeon of Garden City, Kansas, JoAnn DeLeon of Irving, Texas, and Joe DeLeon of Garden City, Kansas; three brothers Joe Montemaoyor, Santos Montemayor, and Adolfo Montemayor all of Lubbock, Texas; a sister Elena Reyna of Lubbock, Texas; ten grandchildren Johnny Jimenez, Jr., Christopher Jimenez, Patrick Jimenez, Cynthia DeLeon, Alisha Kramer, Alyzza DeLeon, Gabriel Garcia, Jose DeLeon, Ricky DeLeon, and Andrew DeLeon; and six great grandchildren Aliza Jimenez, Izacc Jimenez, Estrella Reyes, Natalie Reyes, Kailee Reyes, and Isabella Castillo. She is preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers Tony Montemayor, Manuel Montemayor, Milton Montemayor, and Jesse Montemayor.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 also at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Seiwert as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City. Friends may call from Noon to 5:00 p.m. on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home.
