Obituary for Austin Mikel Harper

Austin Mikel Harper, age 20, died Friday, April 29, 2016 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born February 13, 1996 in Liberal, Kansas, the son of Barry Harper and Lynnette (Heilman) Hageman.

Austin was a lifetime resident of Hugoton. He graduated from Hugoton High School in 2014. While in high school, Austin was a FFA member, played baseball, football, wrestling and golf. He enjoyed playing video games, water skiing, snow boarding, and riding 4-wheelers. Time with family and friends was important to Austin, and he enjoyed working and helping on the farm. Austin worked for Tom Maribel building fences.

Austin is survived by his parents, Barry Harper and wife Nanine of Woods, Kansas, and Lynnette Hageman and husband Dennis of Hugoton, Kansas; sister Jessica Harper of Hugoton, Kansas; step-sister, Brie Greeson and husband Carl of Liberal, Kansas; step-brother, Tucker Heaton and friend Mackenzie Williams of Amarillo, Texas; niece, Teagen Greeson of Liberal, Kansas; grandparents, Darlene Harper of Woods, Kansas, Eletha “Grammy” Clark of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ruth Hageman of Willowdale, Kansas, Rick and Kathy Plank of Chino Valley, Arizona; and great-grandparents, Wayne and Shirley DeCamp of Hugoton, Kansas, Irvin and Geneva Clark of Camdenton, Missouri, and Eleanor Hageman of Willowdale, Kansas.

Austin is preceded in death by his grandparents, Tommy Harper, Gene and Phyllis Heilman, Merven Hageman; aunt, Kaylee Norton; and cousins, Brandon Reynolds and Talita Duncan.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Hugoton, Kansas with Pastor Heath Kelley officiating. Interment will follow at the Lonestar Cemetery in Woods, Kansas. Friends may call Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton. Memorial contributions may be given to the Pheasant Heaven Charities in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 423 S Main, Hugoton, KS 67951.
