Obituary for Carl L. Ghan Jr.

Carl L. Ghan Jr., age 66, of Ulysses, Kansas died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at his home in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born February 23, 1950, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Carl L. Sr. and Oneda Mae (Bohanan) Ghan.

Carl grew up in Missouri, graduating in 1968 in Aurora, Missouri. He served in the United States Navy, following graduation. Carl married Faye Stewart on July 23, 1977 in Wichita, Kansas. They have lived in Ulysses since 2008; moving from Scott City. He operated C&F Trash Service in Scott City for over twenty years, and was currently an equipment operator for Kansas Department of Transportation in Ulysses. Carl was a lifetime member of the VFW/American Legion. He enjoyed hunting. An avid bow hunter, he holds the record for Archery Mule Tail Deer in the state of Kansas.

He is survived by his wife, Faye, of their home; daughter, Allison Harland and husband Bo of Ulysses, Kansas; mother, Oneda Ghan of Ozark, Missouri; one sister, Rita Walton of Nixa, Missouri; two brothers, Ron Ghan of Ozark, Missouri, and Greg Ghan of Republic, Missouri; and two grandchildren, Wyatt and Broc Harland.

Carl is preceded in death by his father; and sister, Wilma Mae.

Memorial service will be Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Chapel in Ulysses with Pastor Gerry Dupuis and Joe Garrison officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. Memorial contributions may be given to the Ulysses Animal Shelter in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
