Obituary for Viola Maxine Hohrman

Viola Maxine Hohrman, 94 died Friday, June 10, 2016 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born June 13, 1921 in Grant County, Kansas the daughter of William & Sadie (Knutz) Dew.
Viola grew up in Grant County. She attended Ulysses school and graduated from Ulysses High School. She then attended Business College in Joplin, Missouri. Viola was first married to James R. Carroll. She later married Ernest Hohrman. Viola worked most of her life as a business woman who came from a farming background. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Garden City. She enjoyed cooking and was an excellent seamstress. She lived in Albuquerque, NM for 16 years and has lived in Garden City since 2000.
Survivors include a daughter Judith Byerly of Garden City, Kansas; 6 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; and 5 Great Great Grandchildren. Viola is preceded in death by her first husband James Carroll; her second husband Ernest Hohrman; her parents; a brother Millard Dew; and 2 sisters Inez Mae Dew and Thelma Clark.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas with Rev. Gerry Duquis officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family request memorials given to the First United Methodist Church of Garden City in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
