Donna L. Schiffelbein, 87 died Saturday, July 16, 2016 in Plato, Missouri. She was born March 2, 1929 in Garden City, Kansas the daughter of Roy A. & Vida M. (Haegen) Leopold.
Donna grew up in Garden City where she attended Garden City schools. After graduating from Garden City High School, she attended and graduated from Brown Mackie Business College in Wichita, Kansas. Donna returned to Garden City. On May 11, 1949, she married Pete P. Schiffelbein in Garden City. They moved to Lakin in 1971. Donna later moved to Emporia, Kansas in 1994 and has lived in Plato, Missouri since 2014. A homemaker, Donna enjoyed golfing, bowling, knitting, and crocheting.
Survivors include a son Eric A. & wife Debbie Schiffelbein of Garden City; a daughter Terri & husband Rodger Horton of Plato, Missouri; 6 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Donna is preceded in death by her husband Pete who died on July 24, 1992. She is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother Willard Leopold; and a granddaughter Sara Schiffelbein.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City with Fr. Charles Seiwert as Celebrant. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20 at the Lakin Cemetery in Lakin, Kansas. Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
