Obituary for Karen Kay Mowdy

Karen Kay Mowdy, 68 died Monday, September 19, 2016 at The Shepherd’s Center in Cimarron, Kansas. She was born March 12, 1948 in Garden City, Kansas the daughter of Willard Keune, Sr. and Helen (Bryan) Keune.
Karen lived in various places throughout her life. She worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. Karen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and she enjoyed reading, gardening, her cat “Moose”, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother Phillip Keune; and a sister Sandra Holderness.
Survivors include 5 children Monica & husband Brad McCartney of Garden City, Signea & husband Tim Taylor of Maryland, Breck & wife Machelle Mowdy of Mississippi, Whey-Leah & husband Justin Parks of Garden City, and Mary & husband Scott McCartney of Wichita, Ks.; 2 step-children Lindsey & husband Rusty Hostetler and Tandie & husband Russ Clark both of Wichita, Ks.; a brother Willard Keune, Jr. of Georgia; 20 grandchildren; and 13 Great Grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City with Leland Jackson officiating. There will be no calling hours. The family request memorials given to Trinity Lutheran Church or to The Shepherd’s Center both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
