Obituary for June Grubbs

June Grubbs, age 87, of Ulysses, Kansas died Thursday, December 1, 2016, at The Legacy at Park View in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born May 30, 1929, in Ulysses, Kansas, the daughter of Otis and Winnifred May (Williams) Deyoe.

June married Francis Earl Grubbs on August 12, 1945, in Moscow, Kansas. After their marriage, they moved to Colorado and in 1960 they moved to Hugoton, Kansas. In 1985, June moved to Ulysses, Kansas. June worked in real estate in LaVeta, Colorado, as a secretary at the Hugoton Schools, and at Phillips Mortuary and Peddler’s Inn Motel, both in Ulysses. She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and Shelton Memorial Christian Church. June enjoyed crocheting, sewing and was an excellent seamstress. She made her own patterns and made a lot of her children’s clothes. She was very social and liked to go dancing. June and her husband frequently entertained friends in their home.

She is survived by her son, Randy Grubbs and wife Brenda of Hugoton, Kansas; daughter, Connie Hahn and husband Winston of San Marcos, Texas; one grandchild, Brandi; and three great-grandchildren.

June is preceded in death by her parents; son, Rusty Grubbs; siblings, Annie Deyoe, Faye Robinson, Betty Gee, and Bob Deyoe.

Funeral service will be Saturday, December 3, 2016, at 10:00 AM at the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with Reverend Kelly Gindlesberger officiating. Interment will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton, Kansas. Friends may call on Friday, December 2, 2016, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the June Grubbs Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
