Obituary for DiAnn Bunnell

DiAnn Bunnell, 74, died Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. She was born October 12, 1942 in Vernon, Texas the daughter of W.R. & Lillian (Leaird) Hudspeth.
DiAnn grew up in Amarillo, Texas where she graduated from high school. She then earned a Bachelors degree in Education from Texas Tech University. DiAnn taught school for a few years before moving into social work and counseling. At age 50, she earned a Masters degree in social work from the University of Kansas. DiAnn became chief probation officer in southwest Kansas for 20 years. She kept many foster children over the years and counseled hundred of people. DiAnn loved helping people, golfing, playing cards, and yard work.
Survivors include two children Lisa Wallace of Garden City, KS and Jimmy (Donna) Wallace of Overland Park, KS; a sister Lisa (Phil) Giesey of Athens, TX; and three granddaughters Jessica Wallace, Sara Wallace, and Carrie Wallace all of Overland Park, KS. DiAnn is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Gary Hudspeth.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Fr. Charles Seiwert officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date in Oklahoma. There will be no calling hours. The family request memorials given to the Family Crisis Center in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
