Obituary for Richard Allen Brookman Sr.

Richard Allen Brookman, Sr., 73, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at his home in Lakin. He was born December 15, 1943 at his home in Hopewell Township, Pennsylvania the son of Howard & Mary (Lyons) Brookman.
Richard had four sisters and two brothers. In 1962 he joined the Air Command/Air Force and served as an airman 2nd class. He served four years as a boomer operator, refueling planes in the air. Richard was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #7521 in Tribune, Kansas. After serving in the Air Command, he became a certified General Motors Technician. He spent the majority of his life in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Colorado. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
On June 13, 1964, he married Roxie Quigley in rural Oklahoma. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter Mary (Mike) Wright of Tribune, KS; a son Richard Jr. (Michelle) Brookman of Lakin, KS; a brother Robert “Bob” (Evelyn “Babe”) Brookman of Baden, PA; a sister Nancy Pascuzzi of Pittsburgh, PA; four grandchildren Garrett (Michaela) Wright of Tribune, KS, Jacob (Catherine) Wright of El Reno, OK, Logan Brookman of Lakin, KS, and April Brookman of Lakin, KS; and five great-grandchildren Colton, Thomas, Carson, Aiden, and Declan.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Wanda Rupnick, Donna Chincilla, and Shirley Prusenski; and a brother William “Bill” Brookman.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Lakin United Methodist Church with Rev. Aaron Duell officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family request memorials given to the donor’s choice in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Lakin.
