Obituary for Kathy Sue (Shields) Prentice

Kathy Sue (Shields) Prentice, 56, died Monday, January 30, 2017 at her home in Garden City. She was born February 17, 1960 in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
Kathy lived most of her life in Glade, KS, Scott City, Garden City, and Deerfield. She attended Garden City and Deerfield schools and graduated from Deerfield High School in 1978. While living in Garden City, Kathy did secretarial work at B&L Rentals, Tatro Plumbing, and Sunflower Electric. She enjoyed learning new things by reading, painting, drawing, watching scary movies, spending time with her family and being active in her children’s activities.
Survivors include a daughter Karissa & husband Peyton Nelson of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; a son Chris Prentice of Garden City; parents Robert & LuJuana Baker of Garden City; a brother Jim & wife Kim Shields of Phillipsburg, Kansas; and a sister Cindy Shields of Garden City. Kathy is preceded in death by her father Ronald Shields; and a brother Terry Shields.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City with Rev. Randy Caddell officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family request memorials given to St. Catherine Hospice in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
