Obituary for Phil Marion Wheatcroft

Phil Marion Wheatcroft went to meet our Heavenly Father and rejoin family members in Heaven. In the comfort of his home, he passed from this earth at Hesston, Kansas, on January 21, 2017.

Phil was born January 1, 1958, to Francis Marion and Bernitta (Hargitt) Wheatcroft, the baby of their five children. He was raised on the working, family farm of his parents’, located east of Dighton. Phil was fortunate to spend much time with his Grandma Dot (Jottie Rebecca Smith) & Grandpa Everett Struple Wheatcroft, as their last grandchild, whose farm was only a short distance away from his home.

Phil attended the Dighton schools, graduating from Dighton High with the Class of 1977. He went on to make his own way in the world. Like his ancestors, his work always revolved around the use of his hard-working hands. He worked as a painter for many years, and was always willing to help his friends and family, or anyone who needed something. He also loved cooking, especially for his many friends of Bill W.

Phil was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Bernitta, brother Royce, niece Heather Jo Wheatcroft Gibson, nephew Steven Ray Wheatcroft, great-nephew Troy Manis, brothers-in-law John Blender (Janice), and Eldon Benton (Lucille), paternal grandparents Everett and Dot Wheatcroft, maternal grandparents, Philip and Maudie Hargitt, first cousins William Everett Wheatcroft, and Dallas Russel.
Phil is survived his brother Joe (Illinois), sisters Janice Blender and Lucille Benton (WaKeeney), nephews Chester Royce Blender (WaKeeney), John Hands (Junction City), and niece, Debra Hands (Lucas) Selfridge (Burdett). Also, first cousins Douglas (Lisette) Russel (Louisiana), Richard (Linda) Weiser (Dighton), Brenda (Steve) Kuhlman (Cimarron), Robert Weiser (Dighton), Mary Ellen (Lionel) Coulomb (Minnesota); and a host of great nieces and nephews along with all of his loving friends and associates in Newton, Kansas and the surrounding area.

Graveside Services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Dighton Memorial Cemetery in Dighton. There will be a reception with friends at 11:30 AM at Wesley Hall in the United Methodist Church in Dighton. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice in care of Boomhower Funeral Home, P.O. Box 891, Dighton, Ks 67839.
