Maria Luisa Rivera Lopez Kanaley, 57, died Saturday, April 22, 2017 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born August 5, 1959 in San Antonio, Texas the daughter of Jose Garza and Enedelia (Rivera) Lopez.
Maria lived with her family in various places throughout Texas when she was growing up. She moved to Garden City in 1985 and has lived in Garden City since. Maria worked in customer service and as an office manager in auto sales. She enjoyed dancing and she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Richard Kanaley of the home; 6 children Leticia Lopez of Wichita, KS, Luis Ortiz of Garden City, KS, Roland Ortiz of Garden City, KS, Rosalinda Lopez of Garden City, KS, Ismael Lopez of Garden City, KS, and Dominique Green of Garden City, KS; 3 brothers Joe Lopez of Garden City, KS, Ben Lopez of Canyon, TX, and Henry Lopez of Houston, TX; a sister Velma Lopez Martinez of Houston, TX; and 12 grandchildren. Maria is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Johnny Lopez.
The family will visit with friends from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. A private family interment will take place at a later date. The family request memorials given to the Maria Kanaley Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
