Obituary for Payton K. Sanchez
Payton K. Sanchez, age 20, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Thursday, May 25, 2017, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born July 28, 1996, in Liberal, Kansas, the son of Keith Sanchez and Angi (Anderson) Caldwell.
Payton grew up in Ulysses and graduated from Ulysses High School in 2015. While in high school, he was a member of the cross country team. Payton was currently a pizza artist at Puffy’s Pizza and also worked at Anderson Imaging. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them. Payton loved pulling pranks and making people laugh. He also enjoyed running, skateboarding, video-blogging, drawing, and was an accomplished artist.
He is survived by his father and step-mother, Keith and Samantha Sanchez of Ulysses; mother and step-father, Angi Caldwell and Aaron Binney of Hutchinson; step-father, Cody Caldwell of Ulysses; siblings, Ally Payne, Lauryn Payne, Carsen Walker, Jayce Caldwell, Bella Sanchez, and Brody Caldwell all of Ulysses; grandparents, Raul and Cathy Velasquez, Sr., George Anderson, Kay Anderson, Jerry Caldwell; Bob and Judy Nedom, and George Binney all of Ulysses, and Kathy Caldwell of Barnsdall, Oklahoma; great-grandmother, Carmeta Smith of Rifle, Colorado, and great-grandfather, Bill Brown of Barnsdall, Oklahoma; and numerous aunt, uncles, cousins and friends.
Payton is preceded in death by his grandfather, Homer Sanchez, grandmother, Judy Caldwell; great-grandparents, Harold and Fay Anderson, Monte Smith, Mary Lou Brown, and Betty Caldwell; great-uncle Mark Smith, and uncle, Illya Sanchez; and cousin, Tyler Eslick.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Reverend Todd Guinn and Pastor Rafael Franco officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, May 29, 2017, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the Payton Sanchez Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
