Lorraine M. Waltz, 92, died Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. She was born June 17, 1924 in Ashley, North Dakota the daughter of Conrad & Barbara (Retzlaff) Otterstetter.
Lorraine grew up in Ashley, ND where she attended a country school. On September 14, 1941, she married Adolph Waltz in Ellendale, ND. They moved to Ellendale in 1942. They later moved to Garden City in 1957 and have lived in Garden City since. A homemaker, Lorraine also worked as a cook at OK Courts for many years. She was a member of the Finney County Senior Center and she enjoyed playing Bingo and going to garage sales.
Survivors include three sons Gary (Linda) Waltz of Overland Park, KS, Ronnie (Betty) Waltz of Garden City, KS, and Larry (Jayne) Waltz of Longmont, CO; three daughters Marianne (Terry) Turner of Mesa, AZ, Marcella Walker of Bella Vista, AR, and Sheila (Richard) Powers of Garden City, KS; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband Adolph who died on August 29, 1994. She is also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers Irvin Otterstetter, Verner Otterstetter, Wilbert Otterstetter, & Edgar Otterstetter; two sisters Violet Carlson and Mabel Cack; an infant granddaughter; a grandson Mike Turner; and a son-in-law Darrell Walker.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City with Rev. Tim Fields officiating. There will be no calling hours. The family request memorials given to the Donor’s Choice in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
