She died on October 23, 1991

Bob graduated from Garden City High School, Garden City Community College & received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Kansas State University. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and after his discharge he served in the Army Reserves. He was the longtime owner and operator of Collins Furniture and Appliance in Garden City. In 1986 after selling the store he moved to Denver where he was the furniture department manager of J.C. Penny. In 1995 he moved back to Garden City. Bob’s passion was serving his community and was a Past Board Chair of the Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce, Life Member and Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge, Garden City Noon Lions Club where he transported eyes for donation thru the Lions Eye Bank, served as a Garden City Commissioner and Member of the Housing Commission, volunteered with the United Way, Friends Of Lee Richardson Zoo & the Truck Stop Visitors Center. He was the first Eagle Scout of the Santa Fe Council and remained active in scouting. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, his flower garden and bird watching. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, 1 Daughter- Jill Collins & 2 Sisters- Sharen Altman & infant Cynthia.
