Obituary for Richilyn A. "Dixie" White





Richilyn (Dixie) A. White, age 72, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Friday, June 23, 2017, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born November 23, 1944, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Richard and Marilyn (Schwartz) Wright.

Dixie grew up in Washburn, Illinois, and graduated high school with the class of 1962. She married Robert (Bob) Lee White on August 7, 1976. Dixie a homemaker, loved to garden, knit, and cook. She was musical and played several instruments. She loved people and didn’t go anywhere without making a new friend. Dixie had a strong faith in God.

She is survived by two sons, Shawn Henry and wife Sally of Washburn, Illinois, and Derrek Henry and wife Becky of Washburn, Illinois; one daughter, Angela Higgs and husband Will of Ulysses, Kansas; siblings, Pat, Suzie, Mary, John, Victor, and Vincent; five grandchildren, Brandon Henry, Jason Henry, Braden Higgs, Jared Higgs, and Aaron Higgs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dixie is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Bob in 2003.

Funeral service will be Monday, June 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Pastor Kris Humphrey and Pastor Garrett Gretz officiating. Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
