Obituary for Lynn Dale "Dink" Hubin

Name: Lynn Dale “Dink” Hubin


Lynn Dale “Dink” Hubin, 86, died on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at his home in Dighton. He was born on May 24, 1931 in Hodgeman County the son of Albert Otto & Ruth Daisy (Salmans) Hubin. He married Ruth May Thurston on October 5, 1954 at Hanston.

Dink graduated from Hanston High School and then served as a Sergeant E4 in the United States Marine Corp. After his discharge drove a truck in Dodge City for a short time before becoming a lineman for Western Power & Light based in Great Bend. In 1959 he moved to Dighton and began work for Lane-Scott Electric where he spent the rest of his working career and retired as the Line Superintendent.

He was a member of American Legion Post # 190 of Dighton. In his earlier years he was a catcher on the fast pitch softball teams and enjoyed rock hunting, playing musical instruments and being a camp supervisor on Boy Scout trips. His passion was patriotism and service, Dink served many years on the Legion Honor Guard for funerals and for over 34 years placed the crosses on veteran’s graves for Memorial Day at Dighton Memorial Cemetery.

He is survived by his Wife- Ruth Hubin of the Home, Daughter- Colleen and Bruce Lewis of Dighton, 2 Sons- Joe and Vicki Hubin of Dighton and Pete & Diana Hubin of Wichita, Sister- Darlene Burkhart of Hanston, 5 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 2 Brothers- Paul Hubin & Neldon Hubin and Sister- Shirley Hubin.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday at the First Christian Church in Dighton with Rev Berniece Ludlum officiating. Interment will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery with military honors by the United States Marine Corp Honor Guard and American Legion Post # 190.
