Jesse Ray “Jake” Sustala

Garden City- Jesse Ray “Jake” Sustala, 91, died on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Remarkable Nursing Home in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on December 14, 1925 at Hillsboro, Texas the son of John & Mary (West) Sustala.

He served as a Fireman First Class in the United States Navy during World War II. After his discharge he obtained his pilot’s license in 1946.

On November 20, 1951 he married Mary Jo Mosley in Gohlson, Texas. She died on February 11, 1984.

Jake worked at the General Tire rubber plant in Waco, Texas from 1951 to 1957. He moved to Garden City in 1964 and worked for Gifford Hill, then transferred to Fort Morgan, Colorado in 1968. In 1974 he returned to Garden City to worked for Eatherly Construction Inc. He retired in 1991 as the Equipment Superintendent. He enjoyed his hobbies such as gardening, playing dominoes, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by 3 Daughters- Donna Fisher and Sherri Hebda of Denver, Colorado and Robin Sustala of Fort Worth, Texas, 1 Son- Darren Sustala of Fort Worth, Texas, 1 Brother- Donnie Sustala of Waco, Texas, 8 Grandchildren & 8 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife & 6 Brothers and Sisters.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 21, 2017 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be made to the Jesse Sustala Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
