Obituary for Joe D. Torres

Garden City- Joe D. Torres, 57, died on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born on January 14, 1960 in Uvalde, Texas the son of Juan & Francisca (DeLeon) Torres. He married Patricia Guitron on June 17, 1983 at Sublette.

Joe attended Copeland schools and worked for area farmers. After his marriage he moved to Plains and worked for Collingwood Grain for 15 years. In 1990 he moved to Garden City and was a longtime employee of Western Irrigation where he was a truck driver and irrigation sprinkler installer. He was a hard working and caring man and lived for his family and enjoyed traveling.

He is survived by his Wife- Patricia Torres of the home, Daughter- Josephine Torres of Garden City, Son- Joe Torres, Jr. of Garden City, 6 Sisters- Lupe Torres of Copeland, Isabelle Martinez of Sublette, Rosa Montemayor of Sublette, Connie Torres of Sublette, Asencion Ornelas of Garden City & Mary Barnhart of Dodge City, 2 Brothers- John Torres of Sublette & Frank Torres of Sublette & 7 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents and 2 Brothers- Manuel Torres & Raul Torres.

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Rev Joel Plisek officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday and 9:00 AM to Service time Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Joe Torres Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
