Obituary for James Allen Gerber

James Allen “Jim” Gerber, 58, died Thursday, September 7, 2017 at his home in Garden City. He was born march 19, 1959 in Garden City the son of Norbert Lee Gerber, Sr. and Sarah Ann (Ohmes) Gerber.
James has lived most of his life in Garden City. He attended St. Mary Catholic School and graduated from Garden City High School in 1977. Jim was an excellent welder and cook. He first became employed by Henkle Drilling as a welder. His current employer was Wal-Mart where he worked stocking shelves. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Jim volunteered for several years at the Emmaus House. He loved children, family get-togethers and he loved playing cards with his mom. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, dogs, and motorcycles.
Survivors include 7 brothers George Gerber, Rick (Donna) Gerber, Steve (Laurie) Gerber, Mike (Tavane) Gerber, Ron (Kelly) Gerber, Phil Gerber, and Norbert Lee Gerber, Jr.; 2 sisters Agnes (Charles) Brisendine and Theresa (Bruce) Seiler; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts. Jim is preceded in death by his parents.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 16 also at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Seiwert as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the Emmaus House, St. Mary School Endowment Fund, or the American Diabetes Association all in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
