Obituary for Cathaleen Tulloch "Cathie" Cooper

Garden City- Cathaleen Tulloch “Cathie” Cooper, 71, died on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Homestead Health And Rehabilitation Center in Garden City. She was born on August 16, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Howard Milton & H. Virginia (Tulloch) Cooper.

Cathie graduated from Salina High School in 1964 and received her Bachelor Of Science in Education from the University of Missouri in 1968. She taught in elementary schools in Zion, Illinois, Marceline, Missouri and Shields, Kansas. In 1989 she received her Masters in Special Education from Northwest Missouri State University and in 2001 her English as a Second Language Certification from Kansas State University. She taught Special Education at Florence Wilson and Buffalo Jones and Bernadine Sitts School in Garden City for 19 years and retired in 2009 after 38 years as a teacher.

She was a Member of the Presbyterian Church of Garden City and served her church as an Elder, Chairperson of the afternoon Presbyterian Womens Association Circle, Member of the Board of Presbyterian Womens Association, Church Nominating Committee, Friendship Committee, Memorial Committee. She also belong to the Order Of Eastern Star, Daughters Of American Revelution and was the Register and Chaplain of Willion Chapter DAR.

Cathie enjoyed traveling, she was in 49 state capitols along with trips to Europe, Mexico & Canada. She also attended the Scottish Highland Games in different states. She enjoyed collecting antiques , especially dolls and teddy bears. She was very involved with genealogy and enjoyed tracing the family history and the stories.

She is survived by her Brother- David & Patty Cooper of Katy, Texas, Niece- Marisha Cooper of Garden City, Nephew- Shawn & Melissa Cooper of Richmond, Texas and 2 Great-Nephews- Travis Cooper & Dylan Cooper.

Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at the Presbyterian Church in Garden City with Rev Denise Pass officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Marysville, Missouri.
