Lena Frances Kamps, age 85, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson, Kansas. She was born September 20, 1932, in Caney, Kansas, the daughter of Emery Andrew and Edith (Richerson) Lopp.

Lena grew up in Caney, Kansas. She married Fredrick Nathanel Kamps on September 20, 1951, in Independence, Kansas. Lena had the opportunity to live in Kansas, California for 30 years, and Arkansas, before moving to Ulysses in 2016. She was a housekeeper, and a member of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by her niece, Linda White and husband Gene of Ulysses; nephew, Joel Keene and wife Diane of Caney; and numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces.

Lena is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; and son, Stephen Fred.

There will be no local service. Memorial contributions may be given to Stanton County Hospital and Clinic in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
