Obituary for Robert L. (Bob) Koehn

Robert L. (Bob) Koehn, age 85, of Montezuma, Kansas, died Sunday, October 29, 2017, at Bethel Home in Montezuma. He was born June 2, 1932, in Grant County, Kansas, the son of Henry and Susie (Kehn) Koehn.

Bob attended Grant County District Rock Island School where he made good grades. After his mother died, Bob was raised by his father, Henry, and step-mother, Adeline. He married Elva Koehn on November 12, 1957, in Copeland, Kansas. Bob farmed all his life, and enjoyed driving the farm equipment. He also enjoyed old vehicles and being a shade tree mechanic. Bob was a song leader in church for many years. Bob and Elva moved to Willcox, Arizona, in 2004, where he was a member of the Mountain Valley Mennonite congregation.

He is survived by his wife, Elva of Montezuma; children, Bruce Koehn of Pearce, Arizona, Ronda Schmidt and husband Daniel of Willcox, Arizona, Keith Koehn and wife Martyanne of Othello, Washington, and Verle Koehn and wife Janell of Ulysses; siblings, Tom Koehn and wife Ruth of Ulysses, Glenn Koehn and wife Glennis of Montezuma, Inez Yost of Iroquois, South Dakota, JoAnn Nichols and husband Milton of Ward, South Dakota, Russell Koehn and wife Winona of Potlatch, Idaho, Deloris Giesbrecht and husband Galen of Texhoma, Texas, Dale Koehn and wife Mary Beth of Grifton, North Carolina, Diana Ratzlaff and husband Darrell of Cochise, Arizona; 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Adeline; and sisters, Juanita Nightingale and Patsy Jantz.

Funeral service will be Thursday, November 2, 2017, at 10:30 AM at Grant Mennonite Church in rural Grant County with Minister Denton Koehn and Minister Stuart Jantzen officiating. Interment will follow at Grant Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, November 1, 2017, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses, Kansas.
