Obituary for Maylen S. Carrera

Garden City- Maylen S. Carrera, 41, died on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born on June 27, 1976 at Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico the daughter of Adan & Rosa (Cano) Gonzalez. She marred Julio Esquivel in Garden City. She later married Fernando Carrera in Garden City.

Maylen moved as a young child with her family to Center, Colorado. She then moved to Garden City and attended Garden City High School. She was a Homemaker and Mother and enjoyed reading, watching movies & listening to music. She was a member of St Mary Catholic Church of Garden City.

She is survived by her Husband Fernando Carrera, 3 Sons- Julio Esquivel, Jr. of Manhattan, Javier Esquivel & Jacob Esquivel both of Lakin, Daughter- Jessica Esquivel of Lakin, Mother & Step-Father- Salvador & Rosa Vasquez of Garden City, Brother- Luis A. Vasquez of Garden City & 2 Sisters- Erica Cruz of Garden City & Selene Gonzalez of Dodge City.

Vigil Service will be at 7:00 PM Monday and Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday both at St Mary Catholic Church with Father Charles Seiwert presiding. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Memorials are suggested to the Maylen Carrera Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home. Calling Hours will be from 1:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday at Garnand Funeral Home. Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com
