Obituary for Robert L. Meyer

Garden City- Robert L. Meyer, 82, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 11, 2017 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born on July 14, 1935 at Great Bend the son of Fred & Dena (Seifkes) Meyer. He married Marilyn J. Dannebohm on June 16, 1957 at Ellinwood.

Robert grew up on the family farm near Ellinwood and graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1953. He moved to Finney County to farm with his brother. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960 and was stationed in Germany. While in Germany he served with and got to know Elvis Presley. After his discharge he returned to Finney County to farm. He later worked for Northern Natural Gas Company, Inland Container and his last job before retirement was as a Courier Driver for St Catherine Hospital. He attended The Church Of The Nazarene in Garden City and was formerly a Leader in the Royal Rangers at First Assembly Of God Church. He enjoyed hunting, model airplanes and just helping people.

He is survived by his Wife- Marilyn Meyer of the Home, Son- Brian & Kim Meyer of Garden City, Daughter- Linda & Jerry McVey of Garden City, Son-In-Law- Dan St. Clair of Garden City, 2 Brothers- Donald Meyer of Garden City & Richard Meyer of Hutchinson, 7 Grandchildren & 4 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Daughter- Sheri St. Clair, 2 Brothers- Fred Meyer & Milton Meyer & Sister- Mildred Pauls.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday at The Church Of The Nazarene with Rev Tim Fields and Rev Don Patrick officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Kansas National Guard Honor Guard. Calling Hours are from Noon to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to The Church Of The Nazarene or Robert Meyer Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home. Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com.
