Obituary for Veronica Leyva

Veronica Leyva , 33, died Friday, December 15, 2017 in Lakin, Kansas. She was born June 26, 1984 in Hutchinson, Kansas Her parents are Margarito and Eloisa Oropeza.

Veronica was a loving friend, sister, aunt, daughter, wife and mother. She shared many wonderful times with her husband, Rene, as they raised their children, Ezequiel, Marivel, Liset and Joel in Holcomb. They all survive. She devoted her life to her home and was a member of the Lakin Assembly of God church in Lakin. She was especially proud of her children’s accomplishments. They were her world and she was very supportive of all of their talents. Although she was physically limited her heart was all in.

Other survivors include Her mother, Eloisa Oropeza, siblings, Bobbie Oropeza, Ruben Escamilla, Raymond Escamilla, David Oropeza, Margarita Oropeza, Monica Molina, Crystal Saiz, Julie Oropeza, Daniel Oropeza, Berta Elena Rios, Soledad Symes, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Margarito Oropeza, her infant son Gabriel Leyva & father-in-law Vicente Leyva.

Prayer vigil will be held at 6:30 P.M. Tuesday December 19, 2017 at the Lakin Assembly of God Church, 503 S. Buffalo, Lakin, Kansas. Funeral service will be held 11:30 A.M. Wednesday December 20, 2017 at Lakin Assembly of God and burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Visitation will be Sunday December 17, 2017 from 12:00 – 8:00 P.M & Monday December 18, 2017 from 9:00 am to 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday December 18, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, 412 N 7th Street, Garden City, Kansas. Memorial funds are suggested to the Veronica Leyva Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412, 7th Street, Garden City, KS . Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com
