Obituary for Josephine S. Gloria

Josephine S. Gloria, 81, died Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Paris Community Hospital in Paris, Illinois. She was born January 15, 1936 in Menard, Texas the daughter of Ralph & Rosa (Urteaga) Sanchez.
Josephine grew up in Menard, Texas where she attended school. On May 23, 1953, she married Jose P. Gloria in Levelland, Texas. They lived in Levelland until 1966 when they moved to Deerfield, Kansas. They later moved to Garden City and then to Liberal. Josephine was a member of Friends Church of Liberal, Kansas. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, church activities, sewing, and she especially loved to spend time with her family and telling stories. Josephine is preceded in death by her husband, Jose who died on July 4, 2006. She is also preceded in death by her parents; a son Joshua A. Gloria; a daughter Sonia M. Almaraz; two grandsons Cristobal Almaraz and Dario Gloria, Jr.; four brothers Lewis Sanchez, Sam Sanchez, Raymond Sanchez, & Jimmy Sanchez; and a sister Lydia McIntosh.
Survivors include two sons Dario (Saundra) Gloria of Wichita, KS and Joey (Robbin Espinoza) Gloria of Liberal, KS; two daughters Omega (Bob) Oberg of Wichita, KS and Suelema (Daniel) Cedillo of Possum Kingdom Lake, TX; two brothers Gilbert Sanchez of Wichita, KS and Thomas Sanchez of Lakin, KS; two sisters Mary Sanchez of Menard, TX and Hope Sosa of Menard, TX;
20 Grandchildren; 40 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great Great-Grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City with Rev. John Harms and Rev. Randy Caddell officiating. Burial will follow at the Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, Kansas. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
