Obituary for Lawrence H. Davis
Dateline: Garden City, Kansas
Name: Lawrence H. Davis
Lawrence H. Davis 88, of Garden City, Kansas died Thursday, December 21, 2017 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born December 21, 1929 in Stafford County, Kansas the son of Emery H. & Ethel G. (Cox) Davis. On August 20, 1950 he married Lillian E. Smith at Sylvia, Kansas. She died April 5, 2010.
Lawrence grew up in Stafford County and attended schools there. He served 2 years in the US Army in the 28th General Hospital at San Antonio and 1 year at La Rochelle, France. Lawrence and Lillian relocated to Tribune, Kansas before moving to Finney County in the early 1950’s where they would remain. He was a farm laborer and experienced “tire man”, having worked for Fansler Tires, Kansasland Tires & Great Western Tire. His hobbies included fishing at Scott Lake, especially with his grandkids, and reading fishing magazines. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include three children, Shari (Dennis ) Landgraf of Garden City, Vickie (Jackie) Wilson of Wintersprings, Florida, & Gary (Michelle) Davis of Great Bend, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Kay Davis of Garden City; 7 grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren & brother, Frank Davis of Cimarron. Other than his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son-Kent Davis, siblings- John Davis, Albert Davis, Wilbur Davis, Art Davis, Lena Seachris, Ruth Osborn, Pearl Datson, & Esther Christian.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Garden City, Kansas with Pastor Robert Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City, Kansas. The family requests memorials given to Fellowship Baptist Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday December 26, 2017at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. Condolences may be posted at garnandfuneralhomes.com .
