Alifonsa Martinez Aldana, 89, died Saturday, December 30, 2017 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born January 23, 1928 in Mestiquic, Jalisco, Mexico the daughter of Refugio & Florencia (Robles) Martinez.
In 1944, Alifonsa married Ignacio Aldana in Mexico. They moved to Garden City in 1885 from Chgihuahua, Mexico and have lived in Garden City since. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. A homemaker, Alifonsa enjoyed cooking, feeding people and her pets, canning peppers, Playing bingo, flowers, birds, dogs, jewelry, scratch tickets and attending garage sales.
Survivors include 4 sons Fortino Aldana of Greeley, CO, Juan Aldana of Garden City, KS, Isidro Aldana of Garden City, KS, & Uriel Ignacio Aldana of Garden City, KS; 6 daughters Rosalba Esqueda of Greeley, CO, Blanca Corral of Garden City, KS, Gloria Esqueda of Chihuahua, Mexico, Maria Jesus Aldana of Garden City, KS, Antonia Carrasco of Garden City, KS, & Ramona Elvira Ordones of Garden City, KS; a sister Isidra Escobedo; Many Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, and Great Great-Grandchildren. In all her family consists of 5 generations. Alifonsa is preceded in death by her husband Ignacio who died on November 30, 1995. She is also preceded in death by 3 children Rosa Maria Aldana, Jesus Aldana, & Santos Vega; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018 also at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Seiwert as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
