Condolences

Condolence From: Brent Clark
Condolence: Very sorry for your families loss. I knew Fred through being an adjacent land manager for Kansas Department of Wildlife Parks and Tourism. Fred was always happy to come visit when he saw me at the state property (Garton Wildlife Area). We shared multiple conversations about land management and hunting. I'll miss those conversations and having to help Fred get his cows back on to his property :)

Condolence From: Tom Reed
Condolence: I went to school with Fred (Freddie we called him then) for eight years in a one room country school called White Mound because it was close to the big hill on the West side of Highway 23. This was the new White Mound school that had been the Enterprise school and they moved it in a half mile East of the old Limestone White Mound school. Freddie had went to the old school in the first grade and when I started, he was in the first grade with us, about eight kids, They did that alot in those country school. Move kids ahead a grade or back a grade so the teacher would only have 5 or 6 grades to handle....They had their hands full even then.....Looking back....Freddie had dyslexia really bad but back then, every thing was a discipline problem. I stutter so bad that I coudn't say a full sentence and that was a discipline problem also. When they put discipline on the problem that a kid can't help only makes it worse. It is real easy to get cross ways with the system....Freddie and I spent some time that way in the eight years there. I remember once when we were in the eighth grade and all the kids wanted to go on a hike over to White Mound where you could see the making of the old Indian camp fires and arrow heads (field trip now), and it was such a nice spring day... Any way the teacher though she was safe in saying: " If Freddie can get a hundred on his weekly spelling, we willl go the White Mound". She knew she was safe and and all the kids said "Ohhhhhh......This was eighth grad word, hard and a lot of them. Freddie had been flunking spelling in a big way but guess what ?? He studdied on them for thirty minutes or so and he said "OK, I am ready".....he spelled them perfectly and we went on our hike to the Famous White Mound.....That is what I always admired about Fred was that when the chips were down....He would stand up and overcome.....gonna miss you. old Friend, may you rest in Peace !!
