Obituary for Freddie Rosas

Name: Freddie Rosas
Freddie Rosas, 66, of Garden City, Kansas died Saturday, February 10, 2018 at his home in Garden City, Kansas. He was born April 11, 1951 in Post, Texas the son of Octaviano “Toby” & Simona (Bocanegra) Rosas.
Freddie attended schools in Post and Scott City before the family settled in Garden City in the 1960’s. He was was a member of St Mary Catholic Church. On June 13, 1970 he married Gloria Ortega in Garden City, Kansas. She survives. He worked as a custodian for USD 457. His hobbies included gardening and collecting coins, hats, & swords. He loved baseball and had coached little league and played on an adult league for many years. His true passion for life involved his grandchildren. He was either coaching them or following their athletic events. His world revolved around their lives. In addition to his wife his survivors include his four children-Silvia Rosas of the home, Alfredo (Marisa) Rosas of Garden City, Kansas, Marcella Rosas of Garden City, Kansas & Esperanza Rosas of Garden City, Kansas; six grandchildren-Thomas Solorio, Karina Solorio, David Solorio, Aliah Solorio, Raven Rosas-Jefferson & Kofi Rosas-Afrifah; a great grandchild, Giovanni Solorio; Sibling-Pauline Asebedo of Garden City, Kansas, Nora Collazo of Garden City, Kansas, Maria Collazo of Texas, Rita Montemayor of Texas, Yolanda Chavez of Nebraska, Raymond Luna of Garden City, Kansas, Frank Rosas of Garden City, Kansas, & Toby Rosas of Garden City, Kansas. Freddie is preceded in death by his parents; siblings -Inez Luna, Juan Luna & Petra Luna, and an infant daughter Simona Rosas.
Rosary will be 7:30 pm Thursday, February 15, 2018 at St Mary Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City, Kansas. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, February 14 from 1:00-8:00 pm and Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. The family request memorials given to St. Mary Catholic School in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas. Condolences may be posted at garnandfuneralhomes.com
