Earl Ray Arnold, age 80, of Johnson, Kansas, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born February 8, 1938, on the family farm south of Johnson, Kansas, the son of Glen Y. and Ruby May (Long) Arnold.

Earl was a thinker, a planner, and an inventor. There wasn’t much of anything he couldn’t fix or alter to meet his needs. Earl married Judy Ross on August 14, 1960, in Mayfield, Kansas. Other than his time obtaining his Agricultural Education Degree from Kansas State University, he spent his entire life in Stanton County. He served on the Johnson CO-OP Board, school board, soil conservation board, FHA board, and the Johnson State Bank board. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, having served on numerous committees. He was also a member of Rotary and the Kum Double Klub.

He is survived by his son, Steve and wife Kathleen of Johnson; daughter, Shelley Rosario and husband Pete of Manhattan; brother, Richard Arnold of Johnson; twin sister, Pearl Hershberger of Springfield, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Travis Arnold of Johnson, Andy Arnold and wife Heidi of Clearwater; Tess Arnold of Johnson; Caleb Rosario, Nathan Rosario, Matthew Rosario, Hannah Rosario, and Jessica Rosario all of Manhattan; and one great-grandson expected any day.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 56 years, Judy; infant twin sons; and grandchildren, Tony and Tracy Arnold.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson, Kansas, with Pastor Jim Ross officiating. Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
