Obituary for Shirley A. Weis

Shirley A. Weis, age 79, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Western Prairie Senior Living Community in Ulysses. Kansas. She was born December 31, 1938, in Ulysses, Kansas, the daughter of Cleo and Leota (Popejoy) Lozar.

Shirley was a lifetime resident of Grant County. She married Cletus Weis on October 10, 1956, in Ulysses. Shirley was a homemaker, and a cook for USD 214 at the high school. She enjoyed following her kids and grandkids activities, quilting and sewing. Shirley was an active member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

She is survived by sons, Larry Weis and wife Melinda of Kechi, and Steve Weis and wife Donna of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Michelle Martin of Ulysses; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cletus; three sisters, and two brothers.

Friends may call Friday, March 23, 2018, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with rosary beginning at 7:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Peter Fernandez officiating. Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
