Obituary for Vida Fae Patterson

Vida Fae Patterson, 88, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin, Kansas. She was born at Russell Springs, Kansas on December 6, 1929, the daughter of Carl & Ollie (Dey) Ferrin. She graduated from high school in Russell Springs.
On September 4, 1948, she married Charles Patterson in Leoti, Kansas. They moved to Lakin in 1950, and celebrated their sixty-second wedding anniversary in 2010.
Vida was a homemaker, caring lovingly for her husband, two daughters and parents. Through her life she enjoyed dancing, playing cards, cooking, gardening, and canning produce with her mother. She especially loved camping and boating with her family and traveling to new places. She also enjoyed watching television and having the company of her two cats.
Vida was preceded in death by her husband Charles; her parents; a brother Glenn Ferrin; a sister Irene Turner Hines; and a grandson Sean Hummer. She is survived by two daughters Judy & husband Russ Chambers of Springfield, Missouri and Vicki & husband Randy Unger of Garden City, Kansas; two grandsons Jay & wife Katie Unger and Jeffrey & wife Cindy Unger both of Garden City; five great-grandsons Ryan Unger, Charlie Unger, Jake Unger, Ethan Unger, & Evan Unger; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin with Bob Bates officiating. Burial will follow at the Lakin Cemetery. Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 pm. on Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin. The family suggests memorial contributions to Willow River at High Plains Retirement Village in care of the funeral home.
