Sherry Laird
Shawnee - Sherry Laird, 69, died on Thursday, April 5, 2018. She was born on May 1, 1948 in Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of Bill & Thelma Anderson. She married Scott Laird on September 3, 1966 at Dighton, Kansas.

She spent her early childhood in Healy, KS and graduated from Dighton High School.
As a young girl Sherry was adventurous and loved being outside. She played softball, basketball, and volleyball. Her love for animals started at a young age with her dog, Boots. Sherry and Scott were married in Dighton in 1966 when Sherry was 18. They soon moved to Wichita so Scott could pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation they moved to Niles, Ohio where they spent the next five years. Sherry and Scott’s only son, Wade, was born in Ohio on June 23rd, 1973. Sherry’s love of animals continued and the family was completed with Punkin, the dog, and always a couple of cats in the house…Muffin, Butter, Stinker, and Cookie to name a few. Sherry was an avid reader and worked in a used bookstore while in Ohio. Sherry moved with her family to Prairie Village in 1985. The early years in Prairie Village were devoted to raising her young son and making as many trips as possible to spend time with her parents, Bill and Thelma, in Dighton. Sherry was blessed with her first Grandchild, Nadia, on September 10th, 2000. She welcomed her second grandchild, Walker, on March 1, 2004. Sherry loved family, and for the last eighteen years of her life, the vast majority of her time, energy, and love was devoted to her son, grandchildren, husband, two sisters, and nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her Husband - Scott Laird, Son - Wade Laird, two Grandchildren – Nadia Laird and Walker Seaver-Laird, Sister – Bobbie Barber, and a gaggle of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
