Obituary for Carmelo Rivero

Carmelo Rivero, 51, died Sunday, April 29, 2018 at his son’s home in Amarillo, Texas. He was born July 16, 1966 in Satevo, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Inocente and Aurora Rivero. He married Joann Navarro on May 23, 1987 in Garden City. She survives.

Mr Rivero attended schools in Mexico before moving to Kansas the early 80’s. He was a true cowboy and was skilled at breaking horses. He loved his “gallos” and horses. Always a hard worker and good provider, he was employed at different feed yards throughout southwest Kansas. He loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his 4 children, Jaime Jurado, Marcos Rivero, Carmelo Rivero, Jr. , and Adam Rivero of Garden City; his mother, Aurora Rivero; 8 siblings, Lupe Rivero, Raul Rivero, Tomas Rivero, Flavia Rivero, Aurora Rivero, Roberta Rivero, Julia Rivero, and Eva Rivero; & 9 grandchildren, Isabel Rivero, Icela Rivero, Dalia Rivero, Illiana Rivero, Israel Rivero, Leiana Rivero, Avamari Rivero, Alejandro Jurado & Karina Jurado. Carmelo was preceded in death by his father, Inocente Rivero & 2 siblings, Geronimo Rivero and Sabas Rivero.

A Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm Friday May 4, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday May 5, 2018 at St. Mary catholic Church with Father Charles Seiwert as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday May 3, 2018 & 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday May 4, 2018 at Garnand Funeral Home.
