Obituary for Cindy Lauppe

Cindy Lauppe, age 55, of Wichita, Kansas, died Monday, May 14, 2018, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. She was born August 13, 1962, in Ulysses, Kansas, the daughter of William E. and Betty C. (Taylor) Lauppe.

Cindy graduated from St. Paul’s Lutheran School in 1981. While in high school, she sang in the Saints Choir. Cindy married Ron Hambrick they had one son, Christopher. She later married Ty Spikes. Cindy received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Garden City Community College in 1998. Cindy was a known workaholic. She began her working career in the family restaurant in Johnson. She was also a caregiver, managed a truck stop in Maple Hill, the Continental Inn Restaurant and Truck Stop in Garden City, and a convenience store and truck stop in Salina. In 2010, she moved to Wichita and was a Merchandise Supervisor at Wal-Mart. Cindy was devoted to her grandchildren and treasured the time she spent with them. She also loved to fish and cook.

She is survived by her son, Christopher Hambrick and wife Joni of Wichita, Kansas; mother, Betty Eckhardt of Oak Grove, Louisiana; brothers, Randall Lauppe and wife Jennifer of Oak Grove, Louisiana, and Mark Lauppe and wife Shelly of Amarillo, Texas; sister, Audrey Lauppe of Johnson, Kansas; three grandchildren, Korey JoAnn, Kylee Michelle, and Kenyon William Hambrick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cindy is preceded in death by her father, Bill Lauppe in 1995; step-father, John Eckhardt in 2017; and grandson, Keaton Christopher Hambrick in 2009.

A memorial service will be held at the Ascension Lutheran Church Tyler Campus in Wichita, Kansas, on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at 2:00 PM with Reverend Dr. Michael Bingenheimer officiating. Graveside inurnment will be Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas, with Pastor Jon Becker officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the COPD Foundation in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 715, Johnson, Kansas 67855.
