Obituary for Betty Lou Finuf

Betty Lou Finuf, 96, died Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at her home in Garden City. She was born December 7, 1921 in Knowles, Oklahoma the daughter of Conan Othel & Vivian Eunice (Chavis) Buck.
As a young child, Betty moved with her family to Wichita, Kansas. She attended Wichita schools where she graduated from high school. She then attended and graduated from Cosmetology school. In 1940, Betty moved to Garden City and has lived in Garden City since. Betty worked as a cosmetologist for 72 years, and she was the owner and operator of Charm Glowe. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Garden City. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and babysitting.
On November 9, 1941, Betty married Loran Underwood in Garden City. He died June 23, 1975. On March 6, 1976, she married Harrison “Harry” Finuf in Garden City. He died on January 18, 1994. Betty is also preceded in death by an infant daughter Patricia Ann Underwood; a son Larry Underwood; a Step-Daughter Cheryl Finuf; a brother Robert "Bobby" Buck; a sister Coila Hanne; and two Grandsons Larry Underwood, Jr. and David Underwood.
Survivors include a Daughter Retta Underwood of Garden City; a Step-Son Jim Finuf of Santa Cruz, California; a Step-Daughter Linda & husband Larry Wilken of Garden City; a brother William & wife Emmi Buck of Mission Viejo, California; 8 Grandchildren including Patricia Ann Underwood Smith of Greenbrier, Arkansas; 20 Great-Grandchildren; and 9 Great Great-Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Rev. Scott Schurle officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to St. Catherine Hospice both in care of the funeral home.
